Our History
Our roots date back to 1981, when Microdata Stockholm Innovation AB was founded in Sweden, initially serving the defence and radar markets. As mobile communications expanded, a sister company, LGP Telecom, was established in 1993 to focus on telecom infrastructure.
In 2003, LGP Telecom acquired the historic Swedish wireless company Allgon, forming LGP Allgon and uniting deep expertise in RF, antennas, and mobile network technology. The following year, LGP Allgon was acquired by Powerwave Technologies, reflecting a broader phase of consolidation within the global wireless industry. (Powerwave later filed for bankruptcy in 2013, marking the end of that corporate lineage.)
Following Powerwave’s acquisition of LGP Allgon in 2004, parts of the Swedish antenna organization and expertise transitioned through several ownership structures before becoming part of Filtronic’s telecom antenna activities in Sweden. This resulted in Filtronic Wireless AB, based in the Stockholm area, serving as Filtronic’s antenna design and engineering center for cellular infrastructure antennas (2000s - 2019). The team’s antenna engineers were widely recognized for their deep experience carried forward from Allgon and LGP Allgon.
From 2006–2007, Microdata Telecom increasingly shifted its focus toward telecom, building strong capabilities in RF and wireless infrastructure.
In Oct 2019, Kaelus became part of the Microdata Telecom Group.
In Dec 2019, Microdata Telecom announced the acquisition of Filtronic Telecoms Antenna Operations (Filtronic Wireless AB).
In 2021, reflecting the strength and global recognition of the brand, Microdata Telecom became Kaelus—bringing together decades of RF, antenna, and infrastructure innovation under one name.
When looking into the history of Kaelus, you will find that the origin of Kaelus stems from Filtronic Australia which was founded back in 1995. In 2005 Triasx was formed as a management buy-out with 35 staff. In 2008 Smiths Interconnect acquired Triasx, and in 2010 Kaelus was formed by the combination of four entities each with a legacy of excellence in RF technology; Triasx, Allrizon, Track Microwave and Summitek. Track Microwave was focused on waveguides and isolators/circulators and Summitek was focused on PIM instruments.
In May 2017, Infinite Electronics announced that it had acquired Smith Interconnect's Microwave Telecom business (SMT) from the Smith Group. SMT included the Kaelus brand. Kaelus and Microdata Telecom engaged in a business partnership in the following years and Microdata Telecom acquired Kaelus from Infinite Electronics in October 2019.
